This year, I wanted to use my Fuel Day to do something that really mattered to me, spend some uninterrupted time with my wife before our lives change in the best possible way. With our son arriving this September, we knew our time together as just the two of us was about to become a little more limited, so we decided to take a short babymoon and enjoy a day away together.
We headed to one of our favorite places, Bodega Bay, California, for a relaxing getaway filled with good food, time at the beach, a little shopping, and, most importantly, time together.
We stayed for the night at the Inn at the Tides, giving us the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy some time together. With a baby arriving this September, we knew that these quiet moments together were going to become even more special.

One of the highlights of the day was spending time at our favorite beach, Wrights Beach. There was something really nice about simply being there with no schedule, no deadlines, and nowhere else we needed to be. We got to relax, enjoy the scenery, and just take in the moment together.
Of course, we couldn’t make a trip to Bodega Bay without doing a little shopping. We picked up a few things for our son, who will be arriving in September. It made the trip feel even more special knowing that we were preparing for the little person who is about to completely change our lives.

We finished the day with dinner at The Tides Wharf & Restaurant, another favorite stop of ours. I had one of my favorite dishes there, the cioppino. There’s something about enjoying a warm bowl of cioppino while sitting near the coast that makes a Bodega Bay trip feel complete.
Looking back, this Fuel Day was exactly what I needed. It wasn’t about doing anything extravagant or packing the day with activities. It was about slowing down, enjoying time with my wife, and appreciating this chapter of our lives before it changes forever.
Soon, our days will look a lot different. There will be less sleep, more diapers, and a whole lot of new adventures. But for one day, we were able to pause and simply enjoy being together.
That’s what I think a Fuel Day is really about.
It’s about finding the things and the people that fill your cup and remind you what you’re working so hard for.
This year, my Fuel Day fueled me with time, memories, and a little extra excitement for what’s coming next.
